Telepractice
'Telepractice is the application of telecommunications technology to the delivery of speech language pathology and audiology professional services at a distance by linking clinician to client or clinician to clinician for assessment, intervention, and/or consultation." https://www.asha.org/practice-portal/professional-issues/telepractice/
Long before we were thrown into all telepractice all the time in our current Covid-19 reality, it was available here and there for specific circumstances, but not typically offered as an option. Sometimes you have to be thrown into something to realize the benefit. There are many benefits to telepractice including elimination of travel time, flexibility of scheduling, and improved and continued access to your clinician. And while there are some risks including possible modification of your treatment plan, delays or disruption due to technical difficulties, and risk of privacy breach, please know that all risks are taken seriously and efforts made to minimize and eliminate risk in every session. While I look forward to getting back in the clinic for evaluations and treatment, I am enjoying providing services by telepractice and will continue to offer this service.
